Tamarind Reef Hotel, St. Croix This is one of our favorite budget-priced accommodations in the Caribbean, thanks to sparkling clean rooms, an excellent snorkel trail. The property is located east of Christiansted just off the reef. All of the rooms include a refrigerator, coffee maker, air conditioning, phones, and many also include kitchenettes. The atmosphere here is laid-back and comfortable,
perfect for families to enjoy the tranquil east end of St. Croix and the
snorkel trail in the inlet just in front of the hotel. Just a few steps from the hotel, the Green
Cay Marina is home to boats that offer daily tours to Buck Island as well
as deep-sea fishing excursions and scuba diving trips. Tamarind guests should also consider a kayak trip around Green Cay, a federally protected island (home to the endangered Ground Lizard) just off Tamarind Reef Hotels beach. Guests of Tamarind Reef Hotel have free access to non-motorized watersports (snorkeling equipment, kayaks, windsurfers); non guests can rent the equipment. The trip to Green Cay is not far and kids 12 and older get there and back with relative ease. Younger kids should go on a two-person kayak with a parent or older sibling. Tel. 340/773-4455, Fax 340/773-3989. Toll-free US phone number 800/619-0014 Back to USVI with Kids |
