Family Activities in St. Croix

Safari Tours

The best way to see what St. Croix has to offer is to get an overview aboard a guided island tour. St. Croix Safari Tours, Tel. 340/773-6700 or 800/524-2026, offer excellent tours in open air safari vehicles with bench seats (not recommended for very young children or kids you don't trust to stay seated and not lean out). Tours last about five and a half hours and include visits to both island cities, as well as all the major attractions.

Whim Greathouse

A visit to this 19th century is educational and easy for families; there are just three main rooms and an outdoor kitchen. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to sample some freshly-made johnny cakes, baked in the plantation’s detached cookhouse. On the grounds, kids can also see a former sugar grinding operation.

Rainforest

From Frederiksted, take Rt. 76 or the Mahogany Road north for a trip to the rainforest. The small rainforest has thick vegetation where the sunlight is filtered through mahogany, yellow cedar, and Tibet trees.
