Arriving in St. Martin

By Air

Air service is available at two airports on the island: Princess Juliana International Airport on Dutch St. Maarten and L’Esperance Airport in Grand Case on the French side. The French airport is served only by a few commuter flights from St. Barts and Guadeloupe and private planes. Most travelers arrive in Dutch Sint Maarten.

Travel time to the island from is 2 1/2 hours from Miami, 3 1/2 from New York, 4 1/2 from Dallas, 5 from Montreal, and 8 hours from Paris.
Princess Juliana is a major airport and a Caribbean hub for inter-island travel.

By Boat

In Philipsburg, Sint Maarten, the Captain Hodge Wharf, can accommodate up to 600 passengers an hour (triple the size of the former tender pier).

The wharf includes a Tourist Information Center and is now the disembarkation point for hundreds of thousands of cruise ship passengers annually. The site is named for Captain Arsene Hodge who, beginning in 1938, operated the first government ship delivering mail, passengers, and goods between St. Maarten and Saba, Statia, and St. Kitts.
