Westin Rio Mar Beach Resort and Casino

One of Puerto Rico’s most lavish hotels, the Westin is a 600-room resort located on the northeast coast. You name it, you’ll find it here: two championship golf courses, a casino, 13 tennis courts, two oceanfront swimming pools, watersports, 11 restaurants, and more.

Club Iguana is named for the first residents of the Westin Rio Mar’s two golf courses. This supervised children’s program is housed in a three-room camp center with a TV room (which converts to a sleeping room for late night campers), an arts and crafts room, and a playroom. Fun includes arts and crafts, sailing clinics, tennis clinics, beginner through advanced golf lessons, horseback riding, volleyball, and beach activities.

The camp is available as a full- or half-day session. The full-day program runs from 9am to 3pm and includes lunch and a T-shirt. The half-day program runs in three-hour blocks, from either 9am to noon or noon to 3pm, and includes snacks. The Night Time Fun program runs from 5 pm to midnight, and lets kids enjoy a good dinner, arts and crafts, ice cream, movies, talent shows, and more.

Recently the Westin Rio Mar added the Rio Mar X-Perience, aimed at pre-teens and teens ages 11-17. "As a popular destination for families, we've had plenty of opportunities to see that teenagers and parents sometimes need a break from each other – especially when trying to relax on vacation," said Drew Toth, Director of Marketing & Sales for The Westin Rio Mar Beach Golf Resort & Spa. "X-Perience is a great way to guarantee teens and their parents alike will enjoy their Caribbean getaway."

The program offers on-site fun as well as off-site adventure including rain forest power walks/hikes, river kayaking, snorkeling, horseback riding and much more. On property, the program is headquartered in a teen center that combines the atmosphere of a game room and cafe, including plasma televisions, music videos, karaoke, pool, ping pong, X-Box (monitors and games), sports equipment, and teen essentials like smoothies, sodas, lattes, snacks and more at X-Perience "bar." The club is open Wednesday through Saturday from 4 pm to 10 pm.
