time. Language. Spanish is the official language
of the Dominican Republic. In tourist areas, English is spoken but away
from the hotels it is helpful to have at least a minimal knowledge of
Spanish. Time. Atlantic Standard Time, one hour
ahead of Eastern, is used throughout the year. Daylight savings time is
