Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus, Bayahibe

This expansive all-inclusive resort is located on 30 acres of the Dominican Republic’s tropical southern coast. All drinks, meals, and snacks are included in the cost, so families don’t have to worry about watching the budget while on the island. While at the Hacienda Dominicus, guests can try scuba diving, sun bathe at the pool, sailing on a catamaran, kayaking, and snorkeling. Land activities include billiards, volleyball, table tennis, and golf.

Most visitors at this expansive resort arrive at nearby La Romana International Airport. From the airport, it’s less than a half-hour drive to the resort. Your drive will take you across the Chavon River, which served as a backdrop for Apocalypse Now and Rambo 2.

Families from the US, Canada, and Italy make up much of the clientele of this resort. Parents seeking some quality time alone will find the kids’ club offers supervised activities for ages 4-12. The kids’ club, part of the all-inclusive program, offers fun activities ranging from arts and crafts to pool fun from 10am to 5pm; the resort also offers a kids’ disco for evening excitement. Babysitters are available for evening and nights at an additional charge.

Evening fun here is family-friendly with numerous restaurants from which to choose including Mexican, Japanese, and international.

After dinner, most guests take in the evening show, a real extravaganza. Don’t forget to have a look at the resident flamingos, who range freely in the fountains nearby.
