Getting to the Dominican Republic The Dominican Republic is home to several international airports so make sure you know the location of your resort before booking your air. On the south side of the island, the capital city of Santo Domingo is served by Las Americas International Airport, about a half-hour drive from the city. Although this is the largest airport, most vacationers don't fly in here because of the distance to the resort areas. On the north side of the island, Puerto Plata is served Puerto Plata International Gregorio Luperon Airport. Other airports include Punta Cana International Airport on the far east end, Maria Montez International Airport at Barahona, La Romana International Airport near Bavaro, and Arroyo Barril Airport in Samaná. More airports are under construction. Return to Dominican Republic with Kids |
