Scuba Diving for Families The Caribbean is universally recognized as one of
the worlds top dive destinations. Thousands of sites lure divers
of all abilities, from beginners looking for shore excursions and shallow
reef dives to advanced divers seeking wreck and cave explorations. Youll find professional assistance from dive
operators on every island, including resort courses where youll
have the opportunity to sample diving after a one-day course. Full certification
courses will award you a C card, and advanced courses to teach
you the use of scuba computers, the skills of drift diving, and even underwater
photography. Resort courses can be a good way to introduce your teens to the world of scuba diving without sacrificing much of your vacation. Only children age 10 and over are allowed to participate in PADI Discover Scuba courses. The day begins with a lesson on scuba diving, followed
by practice at up to a 20 feet depth. Its a thrilling introduction
to a new sport and is available at most larger resorts (complimentary
at many all-inclusives). Other novice divers decide to go for full certification
and take courses at home before the big vacation. You can opt to do everything
but your certification dive at home and then finish up in the Caribbean
if youd like. Although good scuba spots are found off most islands, top scuba destinations include Grand Cayman, the Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos.
