Drinking Water in the Caribbean The water is safe to drink on almost every island in the Caribbean with the exception of Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic) and the Mexican Caribbean. If you are in a location with a questionable water supply, consider buying bottled water (and some resorts, like Breezes in the Dominican Republic, will give it you in your rooms.) Also, avoid fruits and vegetables that have been washed in water; the safest bet is to get fruit that can be peeled. Back to Caribbean FAQ
