USVI's Wyndham Sugar Bay Offers Summer Special


The Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa is helping families control vacation expenses this summer by offering an all-inclusive SunValue Island Getaway package for stays through August 24, 2009.

The Package: The package includes:
  • unlimited food and beverages, entertainment
  • non-motorized water activities
  • half-day access to the supervised Kid's Club
Price: The package price starts at $387 per room, per night, for two adults staying four nights or more. Children under the age of 12 who share a room with their parents stay, play and eat (from the children's menu) at no additional charge. The cost for children ages 13 to 17 who stay in the same room with their parents is $95 per child, per night. Rates are subject to availability.

Don't Forget: Passports are not required for U.S. citizens who visit the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Wyndham Sugar Bay Offers March Madness Special


Thanks to spring break, March (and the surrounding weeks) is a top time for families to head to the Caribbean. We've just received word of a new package offered by St. Thomas' Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa: the March Madness package. The package is aimed at the all-inclusive visitor.

Dates: The March Madness package is valid February 22, 2009-April 19, 2009.

Price: The cost per room, per night begins at $461 for a double room, and represents a savings of 40 percent. Kids 3-12 are free; for kids 13-17, there's an additional $95 per child, per night cost.

Minimum stay: The minimum length of stay is three nights.

USVI Offers Summer Savings

The US Virgin Islands makes an easy getaway for families (and an extra bonus: American families who haven't gotten around to getting passports won't need them for this destination). POTD: Windmill at St. Croix's Whim Plantation


The Danish heritage of St. Croix is especially visible at Whim Plantation, the oldest sugar plantation museum in the Virgin Islands. Along with a great house which is open for tours, the 12-acre grounds of the museum include this historic windmill.

POTD: St. Croix's The Buccaneer


The Buccaneer, located on St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, has been a family favorite for over 60 years, and it's a popular multi-generational getaway thanks to its long history. Westin St. John Winter Dive-In Film Festival Announced

Here's a unique and fun package for the family: this December, the Westin St. John Resort & Villas is introducting the first annual Westin St. John Winter Dive-In Film Festival. This tropical adaptation of the traditional Polar Bear Dive will welcome in the winter season--rather than taking a freezing dip, you are invited to dive into the largest pool in the US Virgin Islands, bask in the Caribbean sun and watch actors freeze on screen.

Dates: The first annual Westin St. John Winter Dive-In Film Festival will begin on December 2, 2007. Shows will be available twice a week on Sunday and Wednesday nights at 7:30 pm.

Ahoy, matey! Several pirate statues--in fact, the world's largest collection of bronze pirate statues--is found on St. Thomas at Blackbeard's Tower. This historic site includes a stone tower built in the 1700s by the Danish.

POTD: St. Croix's Fort Christiansvaern


Built in the 1770s to protect the harbor of Christiansted in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, Fort Christiansvaern is now administered by the US National Park Service. Kids enjoy the historic fort which was built during Danish occupation; it's located literally steps from the shopping area in Christiansted so it makes an easy stop. The grounds are a great place to have a picnic lunch and you can then take a self-guided tour of the fort.

POTD: Annaberg Ruins, St. John, USVI


Annaberg is home to the ruins of one of over two dozen sugar plantations that once thrived on the island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands. Today these ruins are open to the public and administered by the National Park Service. Your family can tour the ruins on your own for a look back at St. John's history and some great oceanviews from this perch as well. (A tip from us: bring insect repellent! Depending on the time of year you visit, this area can be plagued with sand flies.)

USVI's St. Croix Offers $250 Per Person Air Credit

With all the convenience of domestic travel for US visitors (that means no passports!), there are plenty of reasons to visit the US Virgin Islands but now there's one more: the St. Croix Fantastic Flight Promo.
