Jamaica Now Free of Malaria

We answered a reader question here a few weeks ago about malaria in the Caribbean; at the time, malaria was a problem in the La Altagracia region (near Bavaro) of the Dominican Republic and the Kingston area in Jamaica.

We're happy to report that Jamaica is now malaria-free. The Jamaica Information Service is reporting that no new cases have been reported in three months. Malaria was never a problem in the resort areas.
