By Air Bermuda International Airport is served by American Airlines, British Airways, Continental, Delta, US Airways, and Air Canada. Flying time from New York is just 90 minutes; from Atlanta budget two hours for the journey. By Sea During peak months (May through October), several cruise lines call on Bermuda. Since there's no way to do any island hopping here as they do in the Caribbean, cruises do a little port hopping, overnighting at the Royal Dockyards, St. George, and Hamilton so you can explore one end of the island at a time. Getting Around the Island Bermuda has an interesting feature: there are NO rental cars available to tourists. Cars are strictly limited on this island; in fact, residents are allowed only one car per household unless a member of the family is a medical doctor. Taxis are prevalent on this island but rates aren't inexpensive. Taxis are metered. Ferries and public buses are an excellent way to get around. We've taken both and they're on time, clean, and a great way to enjoy sightseeing without breaking the bank. Many hotels sell tokens for use on the bus and ferry or you can pay when you board (coins only; paper currency isn't accepted). Back to Bermuda with Kids |
