Family Activities in Belize Perhaps the greatest attraction for travelers in Belize is the geography of the country itself. There is no shortage of recreational opportunities. Families can fill their days canoeing, white-water rafting, hiking, horseback riding, spelunking, exploring Mayan ruins, swimming, or just soaking up the sun. The waters off the coast offer some of the best sailing and fishing in the world, inside the longest living barrier reef on earth. Tarpon, bonefish, and snook are among the many fish that frequent these waters. Nearly every hotel has a shop for scuba divers. The best way to see the country, and especially the corners of all the Mayan ruins, is on horseback; several operators offer guided rides. Back to Belize with Kids
