Grand Bahamas' Natural Attractions Lucayan National Park We enjoyed the Lucayan National Park, Grand
Bahama Highway. This 40-acre park is filled with mangroves, pine, and
palm trees. Six miles of charted caves are also found here as well as
a secluded beach, hiking trails, and picnicking. This park is home to
an enormous network of underwater caves although diving is prohibited
without a permit from UNEXSO and even swimming in the caves is a no-no.
Gold Rock Beach For families who want to swim, cross the highway
and visit Gold Rock Beach. This wide swath of sand is edged with pine
trees (perfect for hanging your clothes on) and is a great place to walk
in peace and quiet. The waters here are warm and shallow and perfect for
a cool dip. There are no facilities here, so bring along something to
drink. Garden of the Groves On Grand Bahama, another favorite stop is the Garden of the Groves botanical garden. This 12-acre botanical garden is home to over 10,000 varieties of flowers, trees, and shrubs from around the world. Quiet, shaded paths wind through the gardens; you can take time and sit by a waterfall and hear the call of native birds. Back to Bahamas with Kids |
