Bahamas with Kids
What's the number one attraction of the Islands of the Bahamas for US visitors? Location, location, location. There is not an easier getaway from the US; with just a quick skip you can travel from Miami to the islands--even day trips are possible! Several of the Bahamas islands are accessible by boat, either on a cruise (a multi-night cruise that stops in several ports or a one day trip) or a high-speed jet boat, perfect for travelers who don't like to fly. In all, there are over 700 islands and over 2,000 small cays and islets that make up the Bahamas, spread out across 100,000 square miles. Only 20 of these landforms are populated. For family travelers, two primary destinations stand out: Grand Providence Island (home of Nassau and Paradise Island) and Grand Bahama.
