Practical Information about Aruba

Banks. Hours are 8am to 4pm. ATMs are found at the Caribbean Mercantile Bank and the ABN-AMRO Bank. Either major credit cards or Cirrus network bank cards may be used.

Currency. The Aruban florin is the official currency although US dollars are also widely accepted. Most travelers don't exchange US dollars.

Driving. Driving is on the right side of the road.

Electricity. North American appliances may be used without adapters. Voltage is 110 volts, 60 cycles.

Hospitals. The Dr. Horacio Oduber Hospital near Eagle Beach is a modern facility with 280 beds.

Information. The toll-free number for Aruba information is Tel. 800/TO-ARUBA. On Island Information: While on Aruba, contact the local office at L.G. Smith Boulevard 172, Tel. 011/297-582-3777, Fax 011/297-583-4702.

Language. The official language is Dutch; the language of the streets is Papiamento. You'll find English spoken everywhere you go.
